BB Gandanghari is one of the most talked-about celebrities these days. Formerly known as the great action star Rustom Padilla, BB shocked the Philippine showbiz industry when he came out as transgender in May 2006. But before dropping this big revelation, BB went through a lot in his life. He even got married with his former wife, actress Carmina Villaroel.
Not surprisingly, their marriage did not work out. After separating from BB, Carmina eventually found the right man for her. Carmina Villaroel and Zoren Legaspi were wed in a grand ceremony on November 15, 2012. But before their wedding, their twins Cassie and Mavy had no idea about their mom’s past. In fact, they were not aware that their parents were not wed yet.
It was a personal decision that both Zoren and Carmina decided. For them, they don’t want their kids to think the wrong idea, and as much as possible, they want to shield Cassie and Mavy from controversies while they were still growing up.
“We wanted to tell them sa tamang paraan at sa tamang panahon. Sa pagkakaalam kasi ng kambal, kasal na kami ni Mina sa isa’t-isa. Tinago talaga namin hanggang hindi pa nangyayari ang matagal ko nang pangako kay Mina. Ayaw din naman naming ma-confuse ang kambal kaya hindi muna namin sinasabi,” says Zoren during his interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal.
This was seconded by Carmina, who claimed that she wants to avoid confusion between the twins. They also asked a sign from God to know if it’s finally time to reveal Carmina’s past. Their sole purpose is to make sure that they are open and understanding with the twins.
“Kaya tamang timing lang na nangyayari na ang lahat ng ito sa amin. Parang sign from God na kailangan sabihin na namin sa mga bata. It’s best nga naman na maging open na ako sa mga anak namin–tungkol sa nakaraan ko kesa sa ibang tao pa nila malaman, di ba?” added Carmina.
On the other hand, in a recent revelation, BB Gandanghari claimed that his former identity, Rustom, has truly loved Carmina. He wanted to build a life and family with her, and if given the chance, he will definitely choose to court her again.
