Celebrity mom Coleen Garcia recently gave birth to her baby Amari with husband Billy Crawford. On her vlog, Coleen opened up about the challenges and struggles of giving birth. As you may well know, Coleen gave birth unmedicated in a pool! But in order to ease her post-partum recovery, Coleen decided to consume her placenta after giving birth. She shared this practice on her recent vlog with Billy.
“I felt like it had a good effect on me. This is our story, and Amari’s birth has been nothing but good and beautiful to us. Everyone’s story and experiences are different, so if you find yourself here, please share the good vibes with us! No disrespect and negativity please,” shared Coleen.

According to Coleen, drinking her own placenta has helped her regain her strength after hours of exhausting labor. It also helped her to recover quickly from childbirth. She also asked her fans and viewers to share their own experience when giving birth.
On the other hand, this process of consuming placenta after birth is not new. As a matter of fact, many mothers have included this in their birth plan.
Some even turn their placenta into capsules, while other prefer the sweet taste of smoothie. Many have testified that this practice helped nurse the back to health after giving birth.

According to some sources, the placenta is an organ that forms during pregnancy to sustain nutrients for the growing baby. All of the vitamins and sustenance that the baby needs is on the placenta, so by the time the baby is born, it is packed with many nutrients. Even celebrity mom Jennica Garcia made a smoothie out of her placenta after giving birth.
However, some sources contradict this and said that consuming the placenta has no effect on a woman’s post-partum recovery.
According to Science Mag, eating placenta pills or consuming placenta smoothie did not have a ‘significant overall impact on fatigue and postpartum depression.’
