Millions of people all over the world has been badly hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Aside from the dreaded virus, many also suffered from lack of employment amid the lockdown. Even people with high-paying professions had to take a step back, as the pandemic caused a lot of businesses in various industries to shut down.
But at the end of the day, what matters is how we play the cards we’re dealt with. This is precisely what happened to Albert Alcance, a Filipino freelancer and head of operations at Homesvil. Albert’s inspirational story has inspired many people on social media.
Just like most of us, Albert also lost his job amid the pandemic. But what’s even more challenging is he had to take a step back after building his career for years.

In a post that was originally shared on LinkedIn, Albert opened up about his struggles amid the pandemic. According to him, in just a matter of months, he lost his title as an executive in his company.
“In case someone needs to know, even the best fall down sometimes. Before COVID-19, I hold fancy titles that I earned through the years, spending thousands of hours learning to improve my skills. But we play the cards we are dealt with and in my case, starting all over again,” wrote Albert.

Yet instead of moping, he decided to do something about his situation. He’s one of the founder of an e-commerce platform that delivers fresh produce and seafoods to their customers. Since they have no budget to hire more employees, Albert picks up the seafoods at the fish port all by himself at 2:00 a.m.
Indeed, his resiliency and creativity is inspiring! He also left words of wisdom to people who are also going through a tough time. Albert advised them to not be afraid of failing, but instead find a better way to bounce back.
“Tough times never last but tough people do. Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”
