Filipinos take pride in education. No matter what your status in life is, finishing your education is one of your top-most priority. But this is a challenge for less-fortunate families who have lesser means of sending their children to school. Yet in spite of this, poverty did not stop this man from reaching his dreams.
The inspirational story of how he finished his education became a beacon of hope on social media. Jarel Tadio from Tuguegarao, Cagayan City, recently graduated as the top of his class.
Jarel graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cagayan State University under the program Hotel and Restaurant Management. But his journey to success was not easy, because he started off by working as a housemaid.

On Facebook, Jarel shared his humble beginnings. According to him, he was born in a poor family. Despite this, his parents encouraged him to dream bigger in life. Jarel went to work as a housemaid, and he took pride in this decent job. While working, Jarel also went back to school to finish his education.

His life as a working student was not easy. He went to school in the morning, then proceeded to work during the night. In spite of this, Jarel managed to stay at the top of his class.
During his graduation speech, he also dedicated his success to his parents, who never stopped believing in him.
