Amid the holidays, millions of people all over the world celebrate and feast on their sumptuous media noche. But it is a sad reality that not all families can afford a lavish celebration on New Year’s eve. Throughout the Philippines, millions of families are living in poverty with no aid from the government. Luckily, there are still many kindhearted people whose aim is to help the less-fortunate.
Among these unsung heroes is netizen Ronald Ancero Casil from Baclayon, Bohol. On December 29, Casil shared the heartbreaking story of this family from a remote town in Bohol.
While many other people are feasting on their lavish holidays celebration, this small family is struggling to stay float in their tattered home.

In a series of photos, Casil showed the pitiful living conditions of this mother and her daughter. The mother is already a senior citizen, and her daughter is mentally challenged.
Since her husband has already passed away, the elderly mother is struggling to provide for the needs of their family.
To help ease their situation, Casil brought grocery items and gave cash to the elderly woman. He also described that the family was living in squalor inside a tattered hut. There was mess everywhere, and the mother and her daughter can no longer sleep soundly due to the state of their home.
“Nay, kung bibigyan kita ng pera saan ito mapupunta? Mas mabuti po bumili kayo ng bagong pwedeng gamit para sa bahay niyo, wala ng hitsura parang basurahan na tignan. Kung may blessings ulit nay, babalik ako pero sana malinis na to pagbalik ko, sana maitapon na yung mga nabubulok na gamit at pagkain niyo,” said Casil to the elderly woman.
Aside from groceries, the good Samaritan also gave money to the family. On the other hand, this post was shared by many netizens on social media.
Many people called out the attention of the local government in order to provide assistance to this family.
