On January 1, a 23-year-old flight attendant was found dead inside a hotel room in Makati City. The victim was identified as Christine Angelica Dacera, a flight attendant who works for Philippine Airlines. Hours before her body was fouynd in the bathtub, Dacera reportedly celebrated the New Year’s eve in the hotel room along with her friends, who were nowhere to be found in the morning.
Investigators assigned on the case concluded that the victim has been sexually assaulted. According to Makati police chief Police Colonel Harold Depositar, initial examination showed that Dacera had abrasions in her private parts, a common indication of sexual assault.

“Meron siyang pasa, meron siyang mga contusions sa both knees and then meron siyang abrasions, pero isa lang ‘yun na mahaba. Meron definitely sexual contact,” says Depositar in an interview with GMA News. Doctors in Makati Medical Center says that Dacera died from aneurysm.
Meanwhile, Dacera’s family has faced the press and asked the public to respect their daughter while they are still grieving. Her mother, Sharon, says that she still talked to her daughter past midnight on January 1. She also claimed that she trusted Dacera’s friends.
“Sabi ko sino, so yun pinakita niya sakin mga flight attendants. So, in short, since I really trust my daughter, ko ‘Basta enjoy ka ‘te ha, enjoy enjoy lang nak.’ Wala akong any presumption na something will happen to my daughter, because siyempre ang kasama niya, mga kasamahan niya ring flight attendant.”
The last time she talked with her daughter, Sharon claimed that she was still fine. The grief-stricken mother also said that they will not stop until they finally get justice for her daughter.
“Ba’t kailangan gawin ‘yun nila sa anak ko? I want to seek justice. Justice for my daughter na sana hindi rin ‘yan mangyari sa anak nila. Ni-rape nila ang anak ko. Sana hindi ‘yan mangyari sa kapatid niya, sa anak niya. Ayaw kong may mabiktima pa sila ulit.”
