On January 10, flight attendant Christine Angelica Dacera, who died on a hotel room in Makati City, has finally been laid to rest. However, the battle is still not over for Dacera’s family and friends. Suspects who were accused of rape in Dacera’s case are now facing a grave problem. Despite proclaiming their innocence, they still need to represent themselves in court.
Proving your innocence is not only exhausting, but it is also financially-taxing. The accused, no matter how much they protest their innocence, still needs to attend court hearings and prove their innocence at the court of law.
But it’s not easy, since getting a competent lawyer to defend you is expensive. In addition to that, you also have to pay costly legal fees.

This is the reason why Rommel Galido, JP dela Serna, Clark Rapinan, and Valentine Rosales have launched ‘Fund For Truth.’ They were among the eleven people who were accused of sexually assaulting Dacera, and indirectly causing her death. This fundraising aims to raise legal fees for their cause.
The pandemic has also taken its toll on the accused. Galido claimed that he lost his apartment since they were falsely accused. In addition to that, he’s also the sole provider for his family back in the province.
“I lost my apartment due to this incident and the pandemic. It’s even harder for me because I still need to support my family back in the province. I can’t go back to work at this moment that’s why I am asking for support, not only for me but also to my fellow victims. We are innocent. We stand for the truth,” says Galido.

Rosales, on the other hand, also denounced the bounty that was placed on their head by some high-ranking politicians. According to Rosales, any contribution to help their cause will be greatly appreciated.
“It’s hard to step out of the house knowing that a bounty has been placed on our lives in exchange for our freedom when we didn’t even commit any crime. Any financial assistance would be appreciated but not required as long as it comes from the heart. Thank you.”
