Most Filipinos dream of going abroad to live their dream life. For many of us, the quality of life is better in other countries than in our own hometown. But you’d be surprise to know that many foreigners also choose Philippines for their retirement. Compared to other first-world countries like United Kingdom, United States, and Australia, the cost of living in the Philippines is comparatively cheap.
This attracts many elderly foreigners to live out their retirement here. Their pension can last a lot longer here in the Philippines than in their own countries.
One of them is this man who came all the way from Australia to live in the Philippines. He found the woman of his life here, and he stayed for good!

Adam Barry is from Adelaide, Australia. For more than 24 years, he worked as an aircraft engineer in an airline company. A few years ago, he met Cherry, an overseas Filipino worker situated in Malaysia.
The two met in a dating site, and after a few months, they decided to get married and live in the Philippines. “No regrets at all coming to the Philippines. The life we have here, the cat, the food cart, and it’s a good life,” says Adam.
Even though life in the Philippines is much more challenging than his life in Australia, Adam was grateful to meet his wife and get to know the wonders of her country.

In order to make a living, Adam and Cherry make and sell street foods. They have a cart full of street foods which they sell in a nearby market.
Their customers are often surprised to see an Australian national selling street foods here, but they are also amazed with Adam’s hard work and resourcefulness.
According to Cherry, Adam is also the perfect husband for her. She describes him as a hardworking person who is also very helpful with her daily chores.
“He is different. Adam works hard, helps me at home, and when things go wrong, we talk,” shares Cherry.
