Nowadays, honesty is a virtue that is hard to come by. If you came across a large sum of money in public, would you still return it to the owner? Some people will probably keep it to themselves, but this honest vegetables vendor did not hesitate to do the right thing. Alice Baguitan from Laoag, Ilocos Norte was hailed for her selfless deed.
The 37 year-old mother of two went viral over the internet after she returned a missing bag to its owner. In most days, this will probably not make headlines. But what set it apart from the rest is that the bag contained a large sum of money!

The missing bag, which was found inside a restaurant in Laoag City, contained wads of cash amounting to P2.7 million. Upon finding out the bag, Alice immediately reported this to the authorities. They soon tracked down the woman who left it in the restaurant, and the bag was returned to its rightful owner.
The grateful owner offered a cash reward for Alice, but she refused to take it. This was not the first time Baguitan found and returned a large sum of money. Last year in Laoag City also, she also found a pouch left by a passenger in a tricycle which contained P750, 000.00 which she also returned to the owner.
As expected, many netizens were inspired with this story. On Facebook, people expressed their admiration and respect for the vegetable vendor. Some even claimed that the woman deserves to get a reward for her selfless deed. Check out some of their comments below:
