Without a doubt, Lyca Gairanod is one of the most popular young singers of her generation. But unlike most singers, Lyca had to struggled and overcome obstacles in order to fight for her success. She used to be a street kid whose fate changed when her singing video went viral on Facebook. Lyca went on to win “The Voice Kids Philippines.”
Until now, many fans love Lyca not only for her golden voice, but also for her down-to-earth attitude. Even though she became a successful singer, Lyca did not let the fame get into her head. She’s still the same person she once was, and now, she had more opportunities to help people in need.

She often shares her day-to-day life in her Youtube channel, with more than 1.09 million subscribers. Earlier this week, Lyca took a trip down the memory lane and reminisced on the days when she was competing in “The Voice Philippines.”
Sometime during the video, Lyca can’t help but turn emotional after seeing the dress that she wore to her audition. During her audition for “The Voice,” Lyca wore a black and white dress that was given to her by her mom. She won the heart sof the judges after belting out “Halik” on stage.
“Binigay sa amin to ni mama. Talagang pinag ipunan namin to, kasi alam niya na, syempre hindi biro magtrabaho dati. Noong bata kasi ako, gustong-gusto ko talaga magkaroon ng ganitong damit. Sobrang importante ng damit na ‘to sakin,” shares Lyca.
According to Lyca, this dress holds a special place in her heart. Even though she can already afford to buy more expensive ones, she still chose to keep it because it reminded her of her struggles in the past. Furthermore, it also reminded her of her mother’s sacrifice.
Even now that she’s already successful and famous, Lyca never forgets to look back into her past. In her vlog, she also said she cherishes everything that her mom gave her, because it came from hard-earned money.
