Due to the ABS-CBN shutdown, many Kapamilya stars are looking for opportunities in other networks. As of now, the Kapamilya network’s bid for franchise renewal is still uncertain. And with the ongoing pandemic, many celebrities cannot afford to lose their job. Because of this, even seasoned artists are switching to other networks for work.
Among them is veteran actor Johnny Manahan. He’s one of the most seasoned directors and star builders in the Kapamilya network.
Throughout the years, Johnny has directed in countless films and soap operas. However, when the ABS-CBN shutdown happened and the pandemic hit, Johnny had to find other networks to stay afloat.

He recently transferred to TV 5. Mr. M will be the new director of the upcoming weekly musical variety show “Sunday Noontime Live.” Among those who supported his decision is Kapamilya actor Daniel Padilla, who has been one of the successful stars who were honed by Johnny Manahan.
“E, kasi yung mga ganung bagay wala na akong magagawa dun dahil siyempre mga bossing ko ‘yan. Nandito lang kami nakikinig. Hindi naman kami puwedeng ‘Huwag, huwag.’ Hindi ko naman puwedeng gawin yun dahil ako, e, alaga lang ako ng bossing ko, ni Mr. M. Kung ano man ang desisyon niya, kailangan natin respetuhin yun,” Daniel said.
In an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal, Daniel Padilla claimed that he wholeheartedly supports Mr. M’s decision.
And even though he will transfer to another network, Daniel claimed that his special friendship and mentorship with Mr. M will still continue.
“Siya rin ang dahilan kung bakit ako nagka-concert ngayon. Siya ang dahilan bakit mayroon akong lakas ng loob na mag-ASAP at kumanta nang live. Sa kanya lahat yun, and hindi magbabago kung anuman nangyari sa ating lahat. Hindi magbabago ang respeto at pagmamahal ko sa kanya.”
