Diana Zubiri was one of the actresses who were dubbed as ‘Pantasya ng Bayan’ in the past. But before she established a reputation as an esteemed artist, Diana also faced several controversies. Perhaps the biggest issue she faced in her career is her opeen pictorial right in the middle of EDSA, which even gained international attention.
It was way back in 2002 when the then-17 year old actress agreed to do pictorial in EDSA flyover for a men’s magazine. Back then, Diana was the cover girl of the December 2002 edition of FHM. Before the photoshoot, the magazine asked permission from Mandaluyong Mayor Abalos to conduct the said pictorial in EDSA flyover near SM Megamall.

Mayor Abalos agreed, on the strict condition that Diana will not wear a two-piece bikini to prevent stirring up controversy. The team agreed with this condition, but at the last minute, the photographer requested Diana to remove her shorts and reveal her red bikini for the last shot.
This last photo spread like wildfire, and Mayor Abalos was enraged. He even filed a lawsuit against the young actress and the team of photographers. The issue even gained international attention, and even The New York Times reported it. Eventually, in January of 2003, Abalos agreed to let go of the case after Diana and the team personally apologized to him.

According to PEP, Diana only had one request in exchange of the daring photoshoot: a Nokia 7650. Back then, the young star was only borrowing a phone from her friend. Right after the photo shoot, the staff accompanied her to the mall to buy the latest model of Nokia.
For all its worth, this FHM stint catapulted Diana into fame. She went on to grace the magazine’s cover a few more times. Today, Diana is happily married to her husband Andy Smith and has quit showbiz for good.
