Publiko, Nangamba sa Halos Dalawang Magkasunod na Lindol na Yumanig sa Occidental Mindoro

For the second time this month, another earthquake has struck the province of Occidental Mindoro. On October 17, residents living in many areas of Luzon reported feeling a moderately-strong earthquake. The earthquake was felt all over Calabarzon and Metro Manila, but according to experts, the epicenter of the 5.2 magnitude earthquake was Occidental Mindoro.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported that the earthquake occurred around 4:06 in the morning and lasted for a few moments.

According to Manila Bulletin, the quake was tectonic in origin and was traced 21 kilometers northeast of Looc, Occidental Mindoro with a depth of 12 kilometers.

Phivolcs said the quake was also felt under the following instrumental Intensities: Intensity IV – Calatagan, Batangas; Tagaytay City, Cavite; Intensity III – Carmona, Cavite; Marilao, Bulacan, Talisay, Batangas; Intensity II – Plaridel, Malolos City, Calumpit, and San Rafael, Bulacan; Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro; Bacoor City; Marikina City; Muntinlupa City; Las Pinas City; Quezon City.

On the brighter side, according to experts, the recent earthquake did not cause any infrastructural damage to properties. No fatalities or injuries were also reported during the incident.

However, Phivolcs asked the public to be more cautious and prepared as aftershocks can be expected.

This is not the first time that Occidental Mindoro has been the epicenter of an earthquake. Just two weeks ago at October 5, the municipality of Looc also experienced a moderately-strong earthquake.

Phivolcs reported that the 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck the region around 2:16 a.m.

Compared to the most recent earthquake, the October 5 quake had a depth of 121 kilometers. It was also felt in some parts of Calabarzon and Metro Manila.
