Amid the pandemic, thousands of businesses have closed down. The food industry, which includes restaurants and fast-food chains, were also forced to halt operations due to the nationwide lockdown in the Philippines. Because of this, many employees were laid off from work. Recently, several disgruntled employees of a former beauty queen asked help from Raffy Tulfo.
The employees asked advice from the renowned broadcaster due to the status of their employment. During their interview in “Wanted sa Radyo,” the employers claimed that they were working for former Miss Universe candidate Shamcey Supsup. She represented the Philippines in the 2011 60th pageant, landing 3rd runner up.

After retiring from beauty pageants, Shamcey eventually married and settled down with her partner, Peter Lloyd Lee. The couple owned several businesses, including the popular restaurant chain “Pedro N Col.” This restaurant chain is popular for serving delectable Pinoy dishes.
However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the restaurant was also forced to close down for a few months. With not enough profit to sustain their employees’ salary, Shamcey and her husband decided to lay off some of their workers.

“Six months na po kasi ‘yung lay off ng work namin. Pero as of now, sir, wala man lang pong paramdam samin si company sir, kung ano po bang status meron kami. Kung may babalikan pa kaming trabaho or wala na po,” says one of the workers during their interview with Tulfo.
On the other hand, this video gained divided reactions on social media. While they empathized with the workers, many netizens also understood the reason why the business owners had to dismiss some of their workers.
