Earlier this week, rumors spread on social media about a Kapamilya actress who wanted to be a nun. According to some blind items, the actress wants to turn her back on the limelight in order to offer herself to the church. This actress is none other than Shaina Magdayao, who revealed in the past that she wanted to devote herself to the lord and become a nun.
In January, during her interview with Boy Abunda, Shaina claimed that she seriously contemplated of being a nun way back in 2011. However, after several life-defining moments, Shaina decided to stay in showbiz and just help people in need through other means.

According to the Kapamilya actress, even though she’s no longer thinking of becoming a nun, she’s still in touch with her nun friends from Italy. As a matter of fact, Shaina is still texting with the Mother Superior in a convent she once visited.
“Hanggang ngayon ka-text ko pa rin yung Mother Superior. Itong trip ko na ito more on pasasalamat na kasi parang nalagpasan ko na naman ang isang kabanata ng buhay ko. And at the same time, humihingi din ng guidance na mahanap din ngayong taon na ito. Ayun po at nagpapasalamat ako na marami akong na-meet na mga madre and yung mother superior.”
Aside from being an award-winning actress, Shaina Magdayao is also a generous person who loves helping to people in need. In order to fulfill her passion, Shaina started a foundation way back in July 2017. The “Smile Cares Foundation” aims to help underprivileged children by supporting their education.
So even though she did not achieve her dreams of being a nun, Shaina claimed that her ‘calling’ was fulfilled when she started the “Smile Cares Foundation.” This way, she can still help other people in need without devoting herself to the church as a nun. According to Shaina, she feels fulfilled every time they help send another kid to school.
