A lovers’ quarrel ended in tragedy that almost took the life of a woman. Earlier this week, “Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho” featured the heartbreaking story of May Ann Meregillano, a call center agent who was scalded with boiling water by her partner. Due to the incident, May was left with third-degree burns all over her body.
Before this traumatizing incident, May claimed that she never saw any red signs in her partner, Sandy. However, as the years passed by, she noticed how he became jealous and controlling. In an interview, May revealed how Sandy changed.

“Nung nagtagal parang nakakasakal na. Lagi niya akong tinatadtad ng text. Para bang may tendency siya na manakit kasi sobrang seloso niya. Maraming beses na niyang sinabi sa akin na magbabago na raw siya. Pero habang tumatagal mas lalo lang lumalala.”
On the night of the incident, May woke up to find her partner boiling water in the kitchen. She asked him what he was doing, and Sandy answered that the boiling water is for the rodents in their home. May went back to sleep, without knowing about the tragedy that is yet to come.
“Tapos bigla niya na lang kami nilapitan ng anak ko. Tinutukan pa niya kami ng kutsilyo. Gigil na gigil siya. Kagat-kagat niya pa ‘yung labi niya tapos sabi niya, ‘Huwag kayong sisigaw kung hindi papatayin ko kayo!'”
The incident left May with third-degree burns and cuts all over her body. For her safety, their barangay issued a protection order for May and her children. The Philippine National Police is already investigating the case, and May’s partner will be facing charges for frustrated murder.
