Liza Soberano taught one of her bashers a lesson she’ll never forget. A former Converge employee, angry over Liza’s rant about the ISP’s service, made rape threats against the actress online. Since they have Liza’s personal information, the actress did not think twice in taking this threat seriously. On September 25, Liza formally filed a case against the said woman.
During an interview with the press, Liza claimed that she was more upset with the fact that the person who made rape threats against her was a woman. Furthermore, the 22-year-old actress also said that rape jokes and similar threats, even if done on social media, should not be taken lightly

“I was really upset, because the fact that it’s a rape joke it’s not something that should be taken lightly, and the fact that she’s a woman, I would never in a million years do a joke like that,” says Liza, as quoted by ABS-CBN reporter MJ Felipe.
Liza was accompanied by her manager, Ogie Diaz, and her legal counsel, Atty. Jun Lim. In an official statement, Lim stated that they will support Liza all the way. According to Lim, the young actress never meant to intimidate the basher, but she ‘merely asserted her right to be treated with respect.’

In addition to that, Liza also drew the line between expressing your opinion over making threats online. The Kapamilya actress claimed that while you can say anything you want on social media, you must also exercise caution and mind the consequences of your action.
“I know that everybody is entitled to their own opinion, that is true, but at some point you have to be respectful to others online. I want people to learn that there are consequences to everything like rape jokes coz that is not a light matter.”
