Willie Revillame, May Mensahe sa Rappler Reporter na Diumano'y Nagsulat ng Fake News Tungkol sa Kanya

Earlier this week, game show host Willie Revillame announced that he will be donating P5 million to jeepney drivers amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The “Wowowin” host made this announcement during a Malacanang press briefing with Malacanang Spokesperson Harry Roque and Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla. Shortly after the event, Rappler reporter Pia Ranada wrote a piece targeting Revillame’s uncalled-for announcement.

In her story, Ranada claimed that the press briefing turned into a ‘talk show’ after Revillame announced that he will be giving P5 million to jeepney drivers affected by the pandemic. The journalist called Revillame’s act of generosity as simply a ‘plug’ for his own charity and GMA-7. The Rappler journalist said Revillame ‘hijacked’ the press briefing.

During “Wowowin,” the host addressed this piece about him. Revillame refuted the allegations against him, and asked Ranada and Rappler to be more mindful of their stories.

“Sana sa pagsulat mo, inaalam mo muna ang istorya. Kaya nga sinasabihan kayo na fake news kayo eh. Hindi totoo ang sinasabi mo. Hindi totoo ang sinasabi mo. Eh para hong napasama pa ako sa iba na parang nagbuhat pa ko ng bangko ko, parang nagyabang pa ako. Hindi ko po maintindihan kung bakit may mga ganyang klaseng tao,” says the host.

According to Willie, he did not merely ‘barge’ into the press briefing as Ranada claimed. Rather, he was invited by Malacanang Spokesperon Harry Roque himself. Roque had to invite him twice because Willie refused in his first attempt. In addition to that, Revillame claimed that he offered his office in Wil Tower in Quezon City.

In addition to the P5 million for PUJ drivers, the host also pledged to donate P100,000 to each of the families of the four OFWs who were killed in the Beirut blast.
