Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare workers are putting themselves on the line just to save the lives of other people. Sadly, in spite of their noble profession, most healthcare workers are not well-compensated for their high-risk job. Nurse and doctors receive little to no benefits at all, and some don’t have enough hazard pay. This especially becomes crucial when the front-liner gets sick while on duty.
Earlier this week, a nurse complained about the hospital he’s working for for allegedly neglecting him. The nurse, who is only known as “John,” claimed that he contracted COVID-19 while working for the Binakayan Hospital & Medical Center in Cavite. He sought help from Raffy Tulfo’s program, “Idol in Action.”

During his interview, the disappointed nurse claimed that the hospital did not shoulder his medical bills while he was admitted for COVID-19. He also claimed that they received no salary because of the “no work, no pay” regulation of the said hospital.
John also claimed that the hospital refused to communicate with him and other COVID-19-positive nurses. To get the side of the hospital, Raffy Tulfo also invited hospital administrator Amor Endrosalam.
According to the hospital admin, they were willing to shoulder all of the hospital bills of their COVID-19 positive nurses. She also insisted that they do not have any shortcomings when it comes to taking care of their front liners.
Moreover, she also claimed that John has refused to reach out to them. John claimed that all of Amor’s statements were only promises, since they don’t have it in official writing. In the end, the hospital administration agreed to sign an official letter that details how they will take care of their nurses who are COVID-19 positive.
On the other hand, this video garnered mixed reactions from the netizens. Many people couldn’t help but feel enraged over the hospital allegedly unfair treatment to their nurses. Some also expressed their admiration to John for standing up against these unjust protocols.
