Ever since his photos went viral online, John Regala has received help from many people. The 54-year-old former actor is suffering from liver cirrhosis and has been abandoned by his family. After hearing the news about his current situation, John’s friends on showbiz also decided to lend him a helping hand. Among them is Nadia Montenegro, Chuckie Dreyfus, Aster Amoyo, and even Raffy Tulfo.
Nadia and others immediately put up a fundraising to help for John’s hospital bill and medications. For a few weeks, they have gathered a generous amount from John’s supporters and fans. Due to the success of the crowdfunding, many fans are hoping that this will give a fighting chance for the former movie star.

However, just recently, many netizens were shocked when Nadia Montenegro and others announced that they will discontinue their support for the actor. In a joint statement, Nadia revealed that John is self-medicating, which further gets in the way of his recovery.
“Sadly, no amount of effort on our part can help a very uncooperative and difficult individual. In addition, John’s terrible habit of constant and abusive self-medication is something we cannot condone nor tolerate. And so, it is with deep sadness that our group has come to the decision to formally end our involvement in helping John with his medical treatment, care, and recovery.”
In spite of this, they will be giving John all of the remaining proceeds from the crowdfunding. They are moving forward in hope that the actor will be using the funds wisely for his speedy recovery.
“John’s health problems are far from over, and we can only hope and pray that he eventually listens to the advice of doctors and people who love and care for him. May he also spend the remainder of his funds wisely.
