Michael Pacquiao recently made headlines after performing live in Wish 107.9 station. His original song “Hate” is currently the number four trending video on Youtube Philippines. His live performance garnered more than 8.6 million views as of writing. While many people were impressed with his talent in rap, the son of Senator Manny Pacquiao was put in hot water after some musicians criticized him for his rap music.
In an interview, Michael Pacquiao finally addressed all of his haters on social media. The second eldest son of Sen. Pacquiao claimed that his original composition “Hate” signifies his talent and skills as an individual, and not just merely the son of a rich and influential senator.
“That’s how I felt in the song. I wanted to prove that I can. I have talent and I have something, I don’t just rely on my parents,” says Michael during his interview.

According to Michael, he also wanted to make a name for himself. He understands and appreciates the hard work of his father, Manny Pacquiao, who’s a self-made millionaire for being one of the greatest boxers in the history. But that being said, he doesn’t just want to piggyback on his parents’ success.
“I work hard to achieve what I want. I wanna work hard as well ‘cause my dad worked hard for everything he has done and also for us. And I wanna do the same—work hard for everything that I will have, that I want to have, and give back to my mom and dad because they did so much.”

One particular rapper, Jason Dhakal, dissed Michael on social media. On Twitter, Dhakal claimed that Michael’s wealth has greatly influenced his chances of being popular. He compared Michael’s situation to other struggling musicians ans said: “Sh*t like this makes me want to stop making music honestly lol.”
This started a huge Twitter debate, and many netizens called out Dhakal for being allegedly ‘toxic.’
