Amid the coronavirus pandemic, more and more people are struggling for their livelihood. During the community quarantine, the Inter-Agency Task Force has temporarily suspended the public transport system. Because of this, laborers had no other option but to find other means to get to their workplace. And most of the time, people are forced to resort to desperate measures.
Among them is this security guard, who has no other option of getting to his workplace. Instead of missing out a day’s Victor de Guzman decided to just use a kiddie bike to work. Even though it’s difficult, he still managed to bike every day just to come to his workplace. His photo riding the kiddie bike went viral on social media.

He was stopped in the checkpoint in Brgy. Pulong Buhangin on August 6. Police Staff Sergeant Melvin Rogero noticed that Victor De Guzman was struggling riding his small bicycle while only wearing slippers. The kindhearted policeman couldn’t help but sympathize with the security guard, so he decided to surprise him.
Rogero and his fellow police officers pooled money to buy a brand-new bike for the hard working security guard. On August 11, when De Guzman went through the check point again, he was surprised to see that the police officers have brought him a bike! The Sta. Maria police station also shared the security guard’s inspirational story on their Facebook page.

According to the post, De Guzman bikes around 10 kilometers one-way every day from his home in Sta. Maria to Norzagaray. Even though it’s tough, he still goes to work every day just to provide for his family. Check some of the comments of the netizens below:
“Salute to you mga sir gusto nyo ibangon ang maraming maling gawain ng mga kabaro ninyo sana mas maraming mababait na pulis kesa mga tiwali.”
“Tinignan ko pa lang yung pic niya using the small bike eh parang ako ang napagod… what more yung katawan niya habang aktwal na ginagamit yan? Salamat sa nag-replace.”
