Mayor Isko Moreno, Gustong Ipa-Deport ang mga Chinese na Tumawag sa Manila na "Province of China"

Manila City officials are now considering banning a Chinese beauty product after its box identified Manila as ‘Province of China.’ Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta Representative Jericho Nograles called out the company manufacturing “Ashley Shine Keratin Treatment Deep Repair” for labeling its products as ‘made in the People’s Republic of China, despite having been manufactured in Binondo district.

“It is hard to dismiss this insult as a simple error. The label clearly shows Manila, as a province of China. This incident must be investigated at the very least, and the manufacturer and importer should be blacklisted, as soon as legally permitted,” said Nograles in a statement.

This reached the attention of Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno, who ordered immediate response to shut down the factory. On Thursday afternoon, Mayor Isko ordered the closure of the business. The operation of shutting down the factory was shared on the mayor’s official Facebook page.

In a separate statement, Mayor Isko condemned the mislabel in the Ashley Shine product. According to Mayor Isko, he will never be governor of China, and he will never tolerate such acts that demeans and humiliates Filipino right in their own country.

“Hindi po ako governor ng China. Mayor po ako ng Maynila, Pilipinas. No way na harap-harapan niyong aalipustahin ang aming lungsod. Hangga’t ako ang Mayor ng lungsod, you have no place here. Hindi po ito katanggap-tanggap sa akin bilang Pilipino, bilang Manilenyo.”

The enraged mayor criticized Chinese nationals who referred to Manila as the ‘Province of China.’ Mayor Isko also called the government for the deportation of these individuals, which he referred to as ‘undesirable aliens.’
