Amid the coronavirus pandemic, wearing a face mask in public is a must. By wearing a face mask, you are lessening the risk of COVID-19 transmission. Just recently, the Department of Health also encouraged people to wear face shields when going out in public. Atty. Larry Gadon made sure to abide by these rules, but the way he wore his face mask went viral on social media.
Instead of wearing it over his nose and mouth, Gadon just taped the face mask on his face shield. During that time, he was waiting in a line in a supermarket. These photos garnered flak online. Many netizens criticized the lawyer for allegedly not following proper protocols when it comes to wearing a mask in public.

According to Atty. Gadon, he doesn’t believe in wearing a face mask. In an interview, he questioned the effectivity of face masks related to the ballooning COVID-19 cases in the Philippines. Gadon claimed that if masks were truly effective in preventing COVID-19, then the positive cases wouldn’t have reach astronomical figures.
“In my case, the mask is only for a show because stores will not allow entry if you don’t have mask. If mask is really effective, how come there are more than 100,000 people afflicted with COVID? And more than 2,000 dead victims? COVID is a virus just like colds, cough, or flu. Everybody will catch the virus, someway somehow sooner or later,” says Gadon.
Furthermore, Larry Gadon claimed that the government has ‘reacted to the COVID paranoia.’ He insisted that one’s strong immune system is enough to protect you from the virus, while wearing the mask will only perpetuate paranoia.
“COVID fear was created by paranoia. COVID is curable at the onset when the symptoms are felt. One should only take the traditional Chinese medicine. The government has over-reacted to the COVID paranoia. I don’t believe in masks.” Gadon’s claims were verified by Ted Pylon, who claimed that during the time he Gadon in the supermarket, he was indeed wearing his mask taped over his face shield.
