Having a ‘ninong’ and ‘ninang’ is an integral part of our culture in the Philippines. Parents carefully pick the godparents of their children ever since they were born. It is the duty of the godparents to be the second guardian and to love and guide their godchildren.
Sadly, not all parents think this way. Some parents see the ‘ninong’ and ‘ninang’ of their children as moneymakers, especially during the holidays season where they always expect aguinaldo.
Since the holiday seasons have already arrived, many godparents are now giving ‘aguinaldo’ or Christmas gifts to their godchildren. This should be given out of their own will, and not by obligation.
But some demanding parents are too proactive when it comes to asking for gifts from their ‘kumare’ and ‘kumpare.’ Among them is this mother, who went viral on social media.

Maria Alysa Nunez shared her enraging story on social media. The arrogant mother of her godkid messaged her on Facebook, demanding for a gift. Alysa calmly explained that she doesn’t have a gift yet because she is short of budget. The mother became annoyed and insisted that Alysa is a ‘kuripot,’ to which she responded with:
“Malamang alam ko ikaw lang makikinabang. Bakit ikaw ba ang papaskuhan ko? Ikaw ba inaanak ko? Sobra ka na ha.”
In addition to that, Alyssa also revealed that in the past, she gave her godkid a lot of presents. However, the mother was insistent on only receiving cash. Aside from that, her ‘kumare’ often asks her money to buy their food at home.

“Alam mo kung ayaw mo magbigay okay lang! Di ka naman kawalan eh. Kuripot ka na nga sama pa ng ugali mo! Saka anong sinasabi mong humihingi ako sayo pambili ng ulam? Malamang dapat magbigay ka kasi bisita ka. Ano tingin mo ipapakain sayo? Dapat di ka na lang naging ninang eh,” said the mother.
In the end, the arrogant mother belittled Alysa and even called her a good-for-nothing godmother. This was the last straw, before Alysa blocked her for good.
She also shared their conversation on Facebook, which garnered a lot of reactions from the netizens.
